Aquatic invasive species (AIS) are non-native plants, animals, and diseases. Many AIS are harmful to freshwater ecosystems. AIS reproduce quickly, rarely have natural predators and often out-compete native freshwater species. Preventing aquatic invasive species from entering waterways is a Parks Canada priority. Once AIS are established, removal is next to impossible. Clean: all mud, sand, plan...

Safeguarding the Floe Edge for Future Generations | Parks Canada

Ever heard of the “floe edge” (or “sinaaq” in Inuktitut)? It's where the Arctic Ocean meets the land fast ice. In spring, the floe edge really comes to life. As open water appears, sunlight reaches the water, promoting algae. This starts a food chain that attracts more and more animals to the floe edge. Pods of narwhal, beluga, and bowhead whales navigate through the ice openings. Seals and wal...

Tarp under tent should be smaller and /or fully fix under the tent. You’re just asking for pooling water under the tent floor if it rains.
I met Fry just last Wednesday! Absolutely great instructor. Very humorous, but still very informative. He certainly would of been a good mate to have in the fort :P Ah, I should add I'm also American. I love learning history so the fact that there was a fort nearby during our trip to the falls was just a no brainer. Wore my Fort Mackinac shirt and so many reenactors and workers complimented me on it. The one even asked me if I liked the fort because she was planning on going! I love how you guys hire people who really do love what they do and the history of it all!
Mainly shows Ottawa, and skips most towns/villages like Smiths Falls.
Thank you for sharing
Wow, if I could dedicate my life to help these people, I would. So proud of you and you deserve all the healing, compassion, positivity thr world has to offer.
Good to know. Thanks 👍
Just got to see this in person and it was most impressive. Lego should make this set .
Wela’lin for the wise words as an Métis person of Acadian and Mi’kmaw heritage I try to live by these teachings
I promise? There were no afroAmericans noted in these chips. Shame, shame, shame
You do realize that these are metis and indigenous promises
This is a promise for all lands, not just National Park.
Good song! Would Have like to hear it in Mi’maq.
I promise
Thank you for the reminder. Our land is precious and we should be good stewards.
😓😥😢

the most well done gorgeous cinematic film..beautiful
Great vid
He was going from the hard part of Cascade Mountain?
Every think about doing this for, I don't know, let's say Canadians???
WHY?
Hello am from Uganda can I join ,I love touring and finding out new things that I don't actually know 🙏🙏
Very good public safety announcement. Bless the rescuers.
its incredible that parks canada won't let anyone fly a drone in their parks yet here they are flying drones all over the place and getting way too close to wildlife when they say the reason of not flying drones in parks is to not disturb wildlife. So hypocritical.
Thanks for your comment. All Parks Canada places are “no drone zones” for recreational use as it poses risks and can disturb wildlife and visitors. For these reasons, Parks Canada strictly limits the use of drones. Limited use of drones for non recreational use may be authorized to support natural and cultural resource management, public safety, law enforcement and park/site management purposes (including filming and photography for outreach, education and promotional purposes). More information is available here parks.canada.ca/voyage-travel/regles-rules/drones
Perfectly presented! Concise, right to the Point with poignant narration included. I was upset, then angry at the entitled choices of each ship-owner, then became hopeful that talking together now is already in Progress for a Resolution. It better be in favour of all of the wildlife that has migrated to feed here for Centuries! Common sense and logic must be the Priority here, knowing that the ships can find another route. That's the only solution I want to see...
Amazing thanks.
Making this a national park was going overboard. Most of it is just a normal rural area and nothing special. The only reason is was created was because it was the last remaining rural area in Toronto.
I work national parks in the United States like Glacier Park Yellowstone Grand Tetons. I work for third-party companies but I want to work in Banff next summer how do I get a work permit?
The preservation of the ship is unbelievable, the China onboard looks new, you could still use it if you wanted to.
Parks Canada has quite the budget.
Do you have drone operator(s) for 2024? If you need some more drop me a line.
I see a rip tide right now!!!
OOOHHHHYES
Wonderful memories - thank you for restoring these!
Amazing.
Nicely done video!
Chinese weren't the only ones Canada excluded - blacks, Jews, Moslems, SE Asians, pretty much anyone non-white, non christian....and even those who managed to get in were faced with barriers once here - In my time I can remember advertisements for new subdivisions in Toronto as 'restricted' neigbourhoods as well as yacht clubs, golf clubs, I think even hospitals. Plus there were quotas on certain groups in universities and professions. Thankfully things have changed, but recent governments have glossed over that bit of Canada's past with a revisionist view of us as an always welcoming nation.
The background music wasn’t needed. Ruined the video
I love stumbling across these plaques while on vacation. Is there a list of plaque locations that I can access? I'd like to use it to help plan my road trips.
It's great to hear that you appreciate the commemorative bronze plaques! Unfortunately, there is not yet a map that showcases all plaque locations in Canada. You can consult the Directory of Federal Heritage Designations (parks.canada.ca/culture/dfhd) to search all historic designations and plaques by province and keywords, such as cities and towns.
A rather awkward format that distracts from whatever message you hoped to share.
hey, thanks for the tutorial. you are the only one that show the bear repellent spray that has that safety clip on it. I figured you'd you just pull off the pin and push the red trigger. Every time I would look at the directions. id second guess myself. the directions on here suck.
You guys need more views and recognition for doing such an important thing.
Mutual respect and learning from them - but still minimizing interaction: that's a very interesting perspective. To me it seems remarkably similar to the concept of avoiding habituation and even more so avoiding conditioning, a concept that has become mainstream even in Western approaches to the managment of relations between bears and people when sharing the landscape.
How many churches have been burned in our quest for reconciliation? The ignoring of this issue underlines this movement's adversion to truth.
You rock gals!
2 questions: - what about the remaining 10% chance if the bear repellent does not work? Any other tools recommended? - does the bear spray work against wild boar the same way?
Thats History! Expeditioners of the sea becomes Expedition site.
invasive species is what made it a marsh, it was not a marsh from the beginning of time. funny how history stops at whatever point in the past necessary to make the point they want.
So much fun.
Free parks admission to migrants? Most Canadians havent even visited places like morraine lake as its so flooded with foreigners. I think its time to dissolve attachment to the monarchy and the federal management of the parks.
How many are left ? or are they just feeding the wolves like they did with the caibou ?
